Frequently asked questions
Can a video game studio from Romania apply to Creative Europe MEDIA DEVVGIM?
Yes. Romania participates in the Creative Europe programme, so game studios, XR studios and audiovisual production companies registered here can apply. The condition is that you have commercially distributed a game or immersive experience between 1 January 2024 and the submission deadline, 2 February 2027.
How much can a video game project receive through the CREA-MEDIA-2027-DEVVGIM call?
Up to €200,000, as a lump sum. The grant covers 60% of the project's estimated budget, while the remaining 40% is provided by your company, from its own resources or from partners. The amount awarded may be lower than the amount requested.
Can the full production of the game be funded through Creative Europe MEDIA?
No. The call covers development only, that is, the concept and the prototype. Production, which begins with the testing and debugging of the first prototype and ends with the final version (Gold Master), is not eligible.
Can video game publishers apply?
No. Publishers are expressly excluded. Only companies whose main activity is video game production or development, entertainment software development or audiovisual production can apply.
Does a game in Early Access or made to commission count as previous experience?
No. Titles made to commission (work-for-hire) and those still in Early Access are not considered completed works, so they do not meet the experience condition. A studio with no commercially distributed title after 1 January 2024 cannot apply.
By when must the application be submitted, and when are the results announced?
The application is submitted electronically on the Funding & Tenders Portal by 2 February 2027, 17:00 Brussels time (18:00 in Romania). Evaluation takes place between February and June 2027, and the grant agreements are signed in October 2027.
How long does it take to prepare the application?
It depends on the complexity of the project and the documents you already have. The first step is the eligibility analysis, which tells you what needs to be prepared.
What happens if I do not qualify?
We tell you before any contract is signed, and if another suitable programme exists, we point you to it.
