Who can apply
Independent audiovisual production companies established in a country that participates fully in the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme; companies from Romania are eligible. The company must not be majority-controlled, directly or indirectly, through shareholding or commercially, by an audiovisual media service provider (a TV broadcaster or platform). Majority control is deemed to exist when a single provider holds more than 25% of the company's capital. Partners from countries outside Europe (for example Korea) may take part, but cannot be grant beneficiaries.

Can production companies from Romania apply to the MEDIA TV and online content 2027 call?
Yes. The call CREA-MEDIA-2027-TVONLINE is open to independent audiovisual production companies from countries that participate fully in the MEDIA strand of the Creative Europe programme, and Romania is an EU Member State. The condition is that no audiovisual media service provider (a TV broadcaster or platform) holds more than 25% of the company's capital on its own.
How much can a project receive under MEDIA TV and online content 2027?
The grant requested per project is between €70,000 and €2,000,000. Funding is awarded as a lump sum, with a budget set at submission using the calculator in the electronic system. Payment depends on delivering the committed activities, not on reimbursing each invoice.
What are the submission deadlines for CREA-MEDIA-2027-TVONLINE?
The call opens on 30 September 2026 and has two rounds: 10 February 2027 and 15 September 2027, both at 17:00 Brussels time. For the first round, results are indicatively announced in August 2027 and the contract is signed in November 2027; for the second round, results follow in March 2028 and the contract in June 2028.
What types of production does the MEDIA TV and online content call fund?
The call funds the production of fiction, animation and documentaries intended for television (linear broadcasting) and on-demand online platforms (non-linear distribution). Each type has a separate topic: TVONLINE-1 animation, TVONLINE-2 documentaries and TVONLINE-3 fiction.
Can I have partners from outside Europe in a MEDIA TV and online content project?
Yes, partners from countries outside Europe may take part for international cooperation and access to new markets; the Commission gives Korea as an example, under the EU–Korea cultural cooperation protocol. However, these partners cannot be grant beneficiaries.
What must a project demonstrate to have a chance under MEDIA TV and online content?
The project must show strong cooperation between operators from different countries participating in MEDIA, including between broadcasters, high creative value and genuine potential for cross-border exploitation. It must also include innovative content and financing elements linked to the distribution strategy, environmental sustainability measures and a commitment to gender balance, diversity and inclusion.
