Grants for vocational training firms open in 2026
Firms operating in vocational training in Romania will have the opportunity to access substantial grants of between 60,000 and 500,000 euro for projects to develop and adapt to the new requirements of the labour market. This facility will be available from March 2026 under the Just Transition Programme (PTJ) 2021-2027, an initiative dedicated to supporting the transformation of the workforce in the context of economic and environmental change.
What does the funding line involve?
The funding line entitled "Supporting workforce transition" aims to equip employees with professional skills and prepare them for the new requirements of the labour market, shaped by digitalisation and the transition to a green economy. The grants may be used for various types of vocational training projects, including:
- Developing and updating training programmes;
- Modernising training infrastructure;
- Purchasing teaching equipment;
- Organising staff development courses and sessions;
- Retraining and professional adaptation programmes.
Eligible beneficiaries and available amounts
Vocational training firms from across the country can apply for these grants, and the funding will range from 60,000 to 500,000 euro for each approved project. This flexibility allows access for both small firms and those with greater capacity to implement projects. The Ministry of Investments and European Projects (MIPE), the institution responsible for managing the funds, has already published the applicant's guide, the official document setting out the application conditions, the selection criteria and the steps required to apply.
When and how are projects submitted?
The application period for these grants will begin in March 2026. Interested firms are advised to study the published guide carefully, prepare the necessary documentation and plan their projects in advance in order to meet the eligibility criteria and maximise their chances of success.
The importance of the funding for the Romanian labour market
This funding line aims to support the transition towards a better-prepared workforce, able to respond to the changes driven by new technologies and environmental policies. Investing in vocational training enables companies to remain competitive and to contribute to Romania's sustainable economic development.
In conclusion, firms operating in vocational training should follow closely the opportunities offered under the Just Transition Programme for 2026 and prepare to access these EU funds, which can give an important boost to their development.
