Frequently asked questions
What is the deadline for the SYSTEMEU FSTP call?
The call opened on 15 September 2026. The deadline is 16 November 2026, 17:00 in Brussels, which is 18:00 in Romania. Evaluation takes place between 17 November and 20 December 2026, and results will be announced on 20 January 2027.
Can companies from any region of Romania apply?
Yes. Romania participates at NUTS-0 level, so entities from across the country are eligible. €1,650,000 of the total budget of €7.55 million is allocated to Romanian partners.
How much can a project receive, and how much can a single entity receive?
A small project receives up to €750,000, a medium project up to €1,100,000 and a flagship project up to €2,200,000. Each partner receives at least €50,000. A single entity can receive no more than €600,000 in total, regardless of how many projects it takes part in.
What funding intensity does an SME receive?
An SME receives 70% of costs and a large enterprise 50%. Start-ups, universities and non-profit research organisations, public authorities and NGOs receive 100%. At least 60% of the project budget must go to these categories and to SMEs.
Can I apply alone, without partners from other countries?
No. An interregional consortium is mandatory: at least 2 entities from 2 SYSTEMEU regions for a small project, 3–5 entities from 3 regions for a medium one, and 5–8 entities from all 5 regions for a flagship project. An entity from outside the SYSTEMEU regions can take part only without funding, at most one per consortium, and cannot coordinate the project.
Can I apply if my technology is at TRL 7?
Yes. The target range is TRL 6–8: the project must start from at least TRL 6 and reach TRL 8. It is not every partner that must be at TRL 6, but the project's solution as a whole.
How long does it take to prepare the application?
It depends on the complexity of the project and the documents you already have. The first step is the eligibility analysis, which tells you what needs to be prepared.
What happens if I do not qualify?
We tell you before any contract is signed, and if another suitable programme exists, we point you to it.
